Gary has been a Plaintiffs’ lawyer for 36 years. Prior to joining BD&J, he spent his entire legal career at one firm representing plaintiffs in every type of personal injury case imaginable. Over the years, Gary has represented literally thousands of clients, sometimes second generations of the same family. Clients and their families return to Gary for representation because they establish a close relationship during the case. He stays in touch, even after the case is over.

Over his career, Gary has helped recover nearly one billion dollars in jury verdicts and settlements for his clients. Many of Gary’s cases have been complex groundwater cases against corporate polluters, like Gary’s PG&E case, which became the subject of the hit movie Erin Brockovich. Gary worked full time, start to finish, on all of the PG&E cases, spanning more than 10 years. Gary has handled many other air and groundwater contamination cases for almost 25 years. Besides environmental, other notable areas of practice have been Tobacco litigation, auto accidents, product liability and medical malpractice.

Helping consumers and injured victims is a passion for Gary:

“Not everyone has the power to protect their rights. When people are entitled to justice, it is my privilege to help.”

Gary has been recognized by his peers for his trial work. He is a past nominee for Trial Lawyer of the Year by Trial Lawyers for Public Justice for his work on the PG&E litigation. He has also been a frequent public speaker on topics related to groundwater contamination and environmental litigation. He has spoken before the California State Legislature, LA City Schools, Southwestern University School of Law and various continuing legal education programs over the years.

Gary also believes in giving back. Over the years, he has handled several Pro Bono cases to try to improve the lives of others. Notable Pro Bono cases have been:

  • An adoption
  • Re-admission of a med-student to medical school, allowing him to become a doctor
  • Helping a young couple fight a slumlord on a mold issue

When Gary is not working, he enjoys spending time with his wife, two boys and two dogs.
